Mission
At Back of the Yards College Preparatory High School, our mission is to provide students with a variety of experiences that integrate and expand international-mindedness and global perspectives. We strive to promote intercultural respect and understanding and to inspire our students to enrich their learning by providing service to the greater world outside of our school walls. We aim to engage our students in holistic and rigorous studies that advance critical thinking and motivate students to become problem solvers and socially responsible citizens.

Academics
Middle Years Program (MYP): All students are enrolled in the MYP upon starting 9th grade. BOYCP 9th and 10th graders study seven MYP subject areas each year; Language & Literature, Individuals & Societies, Science, Math, Fine Arts, Language Acquisition, and Physical and Health Education. During 10th grade, students participate in the Personal Project and have the opportunity to earn the MYP certificate upon successful completion.

International Baccalaureate (IB):  In addition to AP courses, the developing IB Diploma Program (DP) at Back of the Yards will offer 11thand 12th grade students the opportunity to study a broad range of subjects, engage in research, and participate in experiential learning activities through school, community, and international activities.  All IB Diploma subjects are taught over a two-year period.  Students can have the option to be IB Diploma Course students or to be full IB Diploma Candidates with the potential to earn up to a full year of college credit.  Students will also have the option to enroll in the IB Career Program (CP).  This program will offer students industry certificates in Digital Media setting them up for post-secondary success and placing them well ahead of their peers.  BOYCP is proud to also offer a comprehensive fine arts program-including currently, both visual and digital arts also with emerging theatre, drama, dance, band, and orchestra programs.

Extracurricular Opportunities: BOYCP offer a variety of sports (girls & boys: basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming, tennis, girls softball, boys baseball, wrestling, cheerleading, cross country, track and field) and clubs (Spanish Club, Art Club, Student Council, After School Matter, Spirit Squad, Chess club and many more!)
