Summer Camps


Calling all counseling students!!!
Make a difference and get experience working with youth and families this summer in the Education and Counseling Center!

Please volunteer for one of the following summer camps: Any help you can give is appreciated! We cannot facilitate these opportunities without your help.

Harry Potter Camp: June 18-22
                This camp runs from 11a-2p June 18-22 and will incorporate lots of fun from the book series we all love. Your creative and facilitative skills are needed to provide fun and support for participants as they make wands, learn Quidditch, Identify strengths and values through Hogwarts House activities, Hunt for Horcruxes, Experiment with Potions,…the list goes on and on.

Penedo Org. Summer Camp
                The Penedo Org. serves at-risk girls 6th-12th grades by linking with the ECC to provide academic and social-emotional supports. This camp will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August from 12p-3p. Provide support through expressive arts, psychoeducation, self-care and wellness, mindfulness, group-work, and more.

Chicago Youth Program Summer Camp
                The Chicago youth Program serves minority youth from around Chicago by linking with providers for academic and social supports. This camp will run from 11a-4p Mondays and Wednesdays July 9- August 8. Provide support through expressive arts, psychoeducation, self-care and wellness, mindfulness, group-work, and more.

ACA


Counseling Students, 

The American Counseling Association (ACA) Conference is being held April 25-29, 2018 in Atlanta, GA. This conference includes over 500 counseling-specific sessions, and is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the counseling profession (https://www.counseling.org/conference/atlanta-2018). 

Current DePaul Counseling students can apply for up to $700 to offset the costs associated with attending the conference. Interested applicants should submit an application by Monday, April 16 at 5pm. Up to five students may be funded, and will be notified within a week.

Day on the Hill




Do you want to spend a Day on the Hill?

The DePaul University counseling program is able to fund up to 15 students to participate in this year’s Day on the Hill Advocacy Day. This event is an opportunity to participate in advocacy for the counseling profession.
You will meet and work with counselors from across Illinois and be trained on how to effectively participate in the advocacy process.

This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, April 25th in Springfield, IL. The first 15 students will receive transportation to and from Springfield via Amtrak. Lunch will be provided by ISCA and IMHCA.
