Performs special projects (i.e., developing marketing materials, monitoring budgets, recruitment of underrepresented groups, etc.).

The University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration (SSA) prepares students to become leaders in the field of social work. SSA offers graduate work leading to both the A.M. and Ph.D. degrees.

Unit Job Summary
The Admissions Counselor is a key member of the admissions team. This position supports and assists in meeting the School's enrollment goals through the recruitment of qualified prospective students. Responsibilities may include the following:
Recruits and evaluates applications for admission; develops new relationships and maintains current relationships with all organizations and individuals involved in the admissions process including internal and external partners; assists with planning and facilitating public presentations, special events, and other recruitment activities on and off-campus; develops and facilitates webinar presentations, Skype interviews, and other online delivery platforms; counsels students and families regarding the admissions process from inquiry to enrollment via phone, email, and in-person contact; performs special projects (i.e., developing marketing materials, monitoring budgets, recruitment of special populations, etc.); represents the School and the University of Chicago at various graduate fairs and conferences throughout the US and abroad; tracks effectiveness of recruitment efforts and provides reports to demonstrate outcomes; is a collaborative member of the Office of the Dean of Students team and participates in regular meetings, retreats, and events; will perform other duties as assigned.
 
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university required. Valid drivers license is required.

Advanced degree in higher education, counseling, social work, psychology or other related field preferred.
 
Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant experience in admissions or student affairs required.

Two years of experience in graduate admissions or graduate student affairs preferred.
