A Networking Event for Chicagoland School Counselors
 
 

Chicagoland School Counselors,

•The Chicago Chapter of the Illinois School Counselor Association (CHISCA) is excited to announce our first event of the school year. Based on your responses from a recent needs assessment, we will be hosting a Mix and Mingle networking event. School counselors, school counselor educators, and school counseling graduate students are cordially invited to participate. Meet school counselors at all levels and make connections in an informal and fun setting!

 Saturday, Nov. 2nd, 5-7pm

 O'Shaughnessy's Public House, 4557 N Ravenswood Ave, Chicago, IL 60640
  • O'Shaughnessy's has plenty of street parking and is within walking distance from the Montrose Brown Line stop.

Advocating for students
and school equity
Dr.Javius has established a reputation of inspiring educators to incorporate Educational Equity in enhancing school transformation. The work of Dr. Javius has prompted educators to change the dialogue from achievement gap to closing the “Opportunity Gap.”
Dr. Javius has authored several articles on the topics of closing the achievement gap, race, and Culturally Conscious leadership.
A graduate of University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Javius holds a masters in Urban Leadership from Fresno Pacific University and a Doctorate in Urban School Leadership from the University of Southern California.

 Licensure Workshop

This Thursday, October 24th, DSCO will be hosting a Licensure Workshop. Dr. Tovar Murray will be facilitating the workshop. Please bring any questions or concerns regarding the licensure process (LPC, LCPC). The workshop will be held in the Lincoln Park Student Center, Room 324 at 3:30pm.

begins November 14, 2013
Join Dr. Kate Balestrieri and Ms. Rose Metivier, LCPC, NCC, for this 10-session DBT Skills group to learn skills that can help you:
  •  Recognize and repair unhealthy patterns in relationships.
  • Learn to manage intense or overwhelming feelings effectively.
  • Increase relaxation and focus on the present moment.
  • Reduce impulsive thinking and behaviors.
