GENERAL DESCRIPTION

A Guidance Counselor at Trinity High School is a certified professional whose primary role is to provide the academic, personal and social counseling to students.  A counselor has been a successful classroom teacher and holds a Master’s degree and state certification in counseling.  She is a mature, confidential, balanced, caring individual who possesses strong communication skills and a genuine respect for and understanding of adolescent women.  The counselor is committed to ongoing professional and personal growth.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:

Academic/personal/social counseling; advisement with students/parents individually, in small/large groups on all aspects of educational planning, & development/implementation of programs to meet needs of students & parents; collection & reporting of data.

Professionalism:

·         To share in the educational missions of the Catholic Church, the Sinsinawa Dominican congregation and Trinity High School.
·         Maintain a professional demeanor, attitude and appearance.         
·         Maintain an updated Faculty Handbook, complete with bulletins, memos, phone lists, etc., issued through the year.
·         Participate in the observation/supervision process conducted by department chairs and administrators.
·         Attend faculty and department meetings.
·         Attend teacher institutes, meetings and workshops.
·         Set yearly goals for one's professional growth and instructional performance.
·         Follow the approved course syllabus.
·         Work with chairperson and other department members toward successful completion of department's yearly and long-range goals.
·         Return requested materials in a timely fashion.
·         Demonstrate competence in one's field by keeping updated on new developments in one's discipline and related fields.
·         Update professional qualification through ongoing education, both formal and informal.
·         Participate in the life of the school as a club moderator as needed.
·         Serve on faculty committees / task forces as needed.
·         Maintain open lines of communication with administrators and colleagues, understanding that our shared mission of education requires understanding, respect and communication.
·         Chaperone school events according to the school directives; 2 for full-time teachers, 1 for part-time. Attend other student activities when possible to provide encouragement and interest.
·         Supports the work of Institutional Advancement in those areas relating to their responsibilities: walk-a-thon, raffle, phone-a-thon.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

School Counselor Position- Trinity High School

SUMMARY: Trinity High School seeks a full-time School Counselor to assume the responsibilities for high school counseling.  In this role and utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration this School Counselor promotes student success by providing preventive services and responding to identified needs through implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program that helps guide all learners in their academic success, personal and social development, and career and college planning and readiness.

 JOB OPENING:

Theology Teacher – Trinity High School, River Forest IL

Trinity High School in River Forest, IL, is seeking a full-time Theology teacher for the 2018-19 school year.  The Theology teacher is responsible for planning, instruction, activities and assessments based on a college preparatory program.  Teachers are tasked with creating an integrated instructional program that supports an inclusion-based learning approach fostering a safe environment that respects academic and cultural diversity.  Additionally, teachers are expected to work together in Professional Learning Communities (PLC) with other teachers and support professionals in a collaborative manner to provide teaching strategies and methods that address a wide range of learning styles, individual needs, interests, abilities, and maturity level of students.
Minimum Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Theology (Master’s degree  preferred)
·        3-5 years’ experience teaching in a high school environment preferred

A Teacher at Trinity High School is a certified professional whose primary roles are to model Christian living and provide students with a rigorous, engaging, and high quality education.  The teacher is a mature, caring, balanced individual with a strong background in her/his academic discipline.  The teacher enjoys working with adolescents.  The teacher provides a learning environment that is safe for every student.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:

Instruction:
·         Plan curriculum (goals, outcomes, units, lessons, assessments) in conjunction with the academic department.
·         Teach 6 credits worth of courses per year (full-time), or a fraction of 6 credits as agreed upon by teacher and principal.
·         Use materials and books approved by the school through the Curriculum Council.
·         Engage students in learning activities for the entire class period.
·         Maintain a learning environment that meets the needs of every student.
·         Inform students and their parents of course requirements, major assignments, homework expectations, grading procedures, classroom policies through written syllabi and course outlines.
·         Be available outside of class time, on a daily basis, for extra help, tutoring, make-up work, especially during part of Period 3.
·         Follow the department's course outlines, plan with the department's goals and outcomes in mind, create pacing guides for each course taught and keep accurate, thorough records of grades and attendance.     
·         Send Progress Reports to all students, according to school directives.

ESGE Program


General Summary:
The Education and Development Grant for Employability (EDGE) Program is a yearlong program for eligible first year students at DePaul University. This campus-wide program combines opportunities to develop career and money management skills along with active participation in a departmental team. The EDGE Data and Program Assistant will report to the EDGE Program Director but also assist the EDGE Assistant Director with projects. In their role they will be responsible for data collection from student and team leader surveys as well as program administrative duties.

Principle Duties, Responsibilities and Other Job Related Information:
  • Create and send out online surveys to EDGE students and team leaders
  • Assess results and create reports
  • Assist with the process of placing students on EDGE teams
  • Responsible for entering workshop evaluations and compiling recommendations to improve content or activities
  • Track attendance for mandatory workshops
  • Prepare for quarterly events by creating presentations, agendas and inviting panelists
  • Act as event staff with quarterly events
  • Provide additional administrative support when needed
Position Qualifications (Minimum level of education and/or experience needed to be successful in the position):
  • Previous experience with survey compilation (SurveyMonkey, or Qualtrics) and data analysis strongly preferred
  • Junior, Senior or Graduate student status focusing on anthropology, psychology, marketing research, data analytics or student affairs
  • Former EDGE student is a plus but not necessary
  • Ability to turn complex qualitative and quantitative data into reports and presentations
  • Knowledge of various presentation platforms such as PPT, Canva and Prezi
  • The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with ability to take ideas from EDGE staff and produce high quality work
  • Strong attention to detail is necessary
Hour Requirements/Schedule:
·         Approximately 10 hours per week
·         Some weeks may be less during downtimes of the EDGE Program  
·         Flexibility with hour schedule but needs to be during normal business hours (M-F 9-5)
·         Little to no work over school breaks
·         Student would need to commit to this position for the 2018-19 year
·         Availability to be on campus and start training mid to late August
