Job Summary
The Career Services Consultant advises students and alumni regarding a variety of career
development and job search concerns. This position requires coordination of on-campus
recruiting activities for selected employers and serves as a resource to all employers. The
consultant develops and coordinates student programming and experiential learning initiatives.

Career Services Generalist
• Provide professional counseling to students on an individual basis, in support of their
career decision-making process, to positively impact their academic outcomes and
ultimately their academic and career success.
• Engage students through group programming in classrooms, residential living units and
in other venues as part of the Center’s robust outreach program.
• Represent Purdue University as part of the Center’s employer strategies coordination
team to help provide employers with seamless connections to Boilermaker talent.
• Pursue the development of experiential learning opportunities and encourage internship
providers to recruit students in specialized or non-traditional programs that support
their academic plan of study.

Campus Collaboration
• Exhibit a strong spirit of collaboration commensurate with the core values of the center,
both within office environment and with partnerships across the campus
• Serve as the office liaison to a specific school or college and possibly other campus
stakeholder groups including specific student populations (e.g. international students,
students with disabilities, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ communities, and Veterans).
• Engage with campus partners to participate in University’s First Destination Survey
processes that are facilitated by the Center.
Program Administration
• Possess a clear aptitude to develop and implement programs that provide innovative
and impactful services to Purdue students and its employers.
• Be positioned to give supervision and guidance to students employed by the center for
peer advisement or for marketing efforts to student and other campus constituencies.
• Serve as a member/leader of project teams based on office strategic plan and vision.
