Monthly workshops for students in education and counseling

These workshops sponsored by the Education & Counseling Center (ECC) will help you gain further knowledge and experience to guide you in your paths as educators and counselors.

February 1st 3:00pm-5:00pm: Understanding Depression and Anxiety
Depression and Anxiety are two of the most common struggles you will come across when working with individuals and families. We will discuss prevalence, signs and symptoms, and treatment options available.

March 1st 3:00pm-5:00pm: Conflict Management
We will explore common sources of conflict in the workplace and the impact conflict can have on the work environment, and you personally. You will learn to identify your conflict management style and learn strategies for managing and avoiding conflict.

April 5th 3:00pm-5:00pm: Suicide Prevention
QPR is an evidence based training that increases public awareness of suicide and improves one’s ability to identify and refer those at risk for suicide. Participants learn about the impact of suicide in America, common myths and facts surrounding suicide, warning signs, risk factors and protective factors. Participants learn how to question of someone is contemplating suicide, persuade the person to get help and refer them to the appropriate professionals.

May 3rd 3:00pm-5:00pm: Compassion Fatigue
When people are in helping professions, they are at risk of developing compassion fatigue. This training teaches participants about the signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue, the impact it can have on an individual and strategies for preventing and/or managing compassion fatigue.
