WORKING TITLE: Coordinator for Career Services


PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION SUMMARY:

Provide liaison to designated academic departments, special programs, satellite campuses and
non-traditional degree program areas.  Develop and coordinate career development initiatives within these selected units.  Provide career advising to students from a designated cluster of majors to assist them to better understand the relationship between their major and future careers.  Develop systems for collecting and maintain statistical data on career development programs, activities and services in the assigned academic areas.  Provide career advising knowledge to students and graduates who are in need of identifying, exploring or changing a career direction.  This will include students who are seeking internships and/or part-time employment that is career focused.  Develop and produce printed or internet based promotional material that explain or promote career awareness, exploration and self-understanding.  Present career development workshops covering resume writing, job interviewing, networking, writing cover letters and related topics as needed.  Assist the Career Development Center in organizing and conducting targeted career day, job fair events and related programs while providing leadership for these programs as needed.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters Degree in Student Development, Counseling, Education, Human Resource Development, Higher Education, Business Administration or related degree.   One to three years of experience in the career development area as a job developer, career advisor, or coach.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


·         Provide liaison to designated academic departments, special programs, satellite campuses and non-traditional degree programs areas.  Develop and coordinate career development initiatives within these selected units.  Develop systems for collecting and maintain statistical data on career development programs, activities and services in the assigned academic area.

·         Provide career advising, guidance and counseling to current students, alumni, those who are undecided about selecting a major and experienced alumni who are changing career fields.  Work proactively to reach out to students and student organizations to provide career related assessments, career advising and group presentations.


·         Develop and maintain employer relationships.  Develop on campus events for employers.  Off-site employer visits as needed.  Collaborate with internship coordinator to develop a system for developing internship opportunities.

·         Contribute as a member of the Career Development Center staff team to the continuing development, effectiveness, and visibility of the Career Development Center.  The position reports to the Director of the Career Development Center.
