ECC Volunteer Activities for Summer!

Counseling students,

I would like to invite you to participate in programming in the Education and Counseling Center (ECC) over the summer.  This is an excellent opportunity to practice your skills while serving the Chicago community.  We have a number of programs you can be a part of including working with clients individually or in groups; developing a mindfulness meditation group for children/adolescents; facilitating art therapy activities; and mentoring girls involved with the Penedo Organization.

The Penedo Organization mentors at-risk girls from 6th grade through their undergraduate college degree.  We will be hosting them this summer from 7/14-8/18 every Thursday from 10:30-1:30p. During this time, they will participate in counseling groups, individual sessions, art/music activities, and special projects.  I would love some counseling student participation; and it would be much appreciated by the girls!

The ECC is also hosting a Parent/Child Group for children with developmental differences this summer.  This is on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10a-11a.  Come facilitate a special activity with the kids!

Please let me know how you would like to be involved this summer!  Email me at mmason26@depaul.edu for more information or to let me know your availability.
