Responsibilities
|
|
OVERVIEW: We're excited to announce the opening of 3 full-time positions in our office. In alignment with the Career Center's direction of providing customized service to our constituencies, 2 of these positions will serve the Humanities and Social Sciences students in the College of Letters & Science (L&S), and 1 position will serve students in the Colleges of Environmental Design, Engineering, and the physical sciences in L&S. **Please indicate which position you prefer in your cover letter.** Our counseling staff develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates career services, resources, and programs for their students and fosters strong, collaborative relationships with faculty, staff and employers. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of the career needs of college students, and are able to demonstrate competency in providing services to undergraduate and Master's students in either the humanities and social sciences fields, or the STEM population.
•Provide career counseling services and related programming for students in the assigned constituency, regarding career decision-making, self-assessment, career options, goal setting, career research, and the job/internship search process. •Delivers targeted programs, services and information to students. In coordination with counseling colleagues, researches, designs and plans a strategy for delivery of broad and complex career-focused programs and events that incorporate the needs of campus partners and constituents, which may include a large-scale "career conference" featuring numerous components. •Establish new relationships with corporations and other organizations related to career services and internship opportunities. Promote partnerships and play a key role in the campus's relationship with outside organizations. Consult with employers regarding optimal marketing strategies to reach students and to collaborate on events and workshops. •Work collaboratively with academic staff from your assigned college(s) to determine best service needs for the students. •Develop tailored e-mail communications and other written materials customized to the population. Write and maintain specific sections of the Career Center website and social media outlets, and contribute to Center publications. •Conduct ongoing needs assessments/surveys; collect and report on data related to service delivery and outcomes. Analyze and address unique issues and problems concerning career services and/or marketplace trends. • Act as coordinator for various career fairs and events in collaboration with Employer Relations. •Participate on unit-wide committees and projects.

Required Qualifications
|
|
•A Master's Degree in Counseling, Career Development, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field, or equivalent education/experience. •Demonstrated experience providing career coaching to address a broad range of career/employment issues. •Advanced knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, occupational, career and employment information sources as well as the application process for graduate and professional school. •Experience designing and delivering career-related workshops and programs. •An advanced understanding and ability to work with and serve individuals from diverse backgrounds utilizing cross-cultural counseling skills. •Demonstrated skill in establishing effective working relationships with staff of all levels, faculty, employers and alumni. •Experience and proficiency with incorporating the use of technology to deliver career services. •Strong communication skills – writing, presentation and interpersonal.

Salary & Benefits
|
|
Annual beginning salary range: $73,000 - $75,000. We offer a diverse working environment and an excellent benefits and retirement package.
