Wellness Wednesday: Grounding Yourself

Wellness Wednesday: Grounding Yourself

Feelings of overwhelm are commonplace, especially during times of turbulence and uncertainty. The 5-4-3-2-1 Mindfulness/Coping Technique can help you to ground yourself, focus on the moment, and mitigate anxious thoughts and feelings. Start by taking deep, long, slow breaths and then find or acknowledge:

5 things you can see

4 things you can touch

3 things you can hear

2 things you can smell

1 thing you can taste

Loyola Virtual Guest Speaker Opportunity

Dear counseling professional,

My name is Sarah Broner and I am a first year clinical psychology student at Loyola University Chicago. I am looking for a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling student who may be interested in speaking on a panel of graduate students for one of our undergraduate courses. This student will offer perspective on their career path and answer questions from students interested in a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, perhaps in the Chicago area. Could you please forward this message to your students to see if anyone is willing to speak? We’d really love to hear from you!

Thank you so much.

Best,

Sarah
