Governor Pritzker’s emergency legislation authorizing the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to allow any courses to be taken pass/fail recently expired. This means that, beginning August 23, 2020, all courses counting toward a PEL, school counseling licensure must be taken for a letter grade and earn a C or better as was previously required prior to the emergency legislation. Courses that were taken in spring or summer that earned a PA grade can be applied to licensure, but not courses taken in fall or beyond.
For Clinical Mental
Health Students: IDFPR has not released any information about specific
grade requirements during the pandemic. We recommend taking all courses
for a letter grade to avoid any potential future issues with licensure in
Illinois or any other state. Contact your faculty advisory should you have
any questions.
