You are invited to participate in a research study on the
political affiliation of graduate students in the mental health field as it
relates to students’ perceptions of their colleagues, students’ stress, and
students’ health. The study will take approximately 10 minutes. If you complete
the survey, you will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win one of four $25

Prof.
Kobayashi is a leading researcher of Lesson Study in Japan. He has been
studying Lesson Study in Japan for more than 40 years. His work to help
teachers improve teaching and learning by focusing on each child’s growth has
been very popular among Japanese schools. He has been very active visiting
schools throughout Japan while nurturing his graduate students at Waseda
University.
He
recently published a book (in Japanese): Lesson Study: 27 fundamental principles
– practical thinking for improving professional expertise for teaching. This
book is based on his monthly article for a journal for school leaders in Japan.
At this lecture, he will share his ideas for helping teachers and schools
improve teaching and learning by paying attention to each individual student’s
learning.
This
lecture is part of a two-week visit by Prof. Kobayashi, late September to early
October at DePaul University, to extend his Lesson Study research to US schools
where lesson study has been implemented. He is interested in collaborating with
US researchers and educators to exchange ideas about improve teaching and
learning under the guidance.
While his stay at DePaul, he will be using room 305 as his office.
