Elementary (cityelementary.com)
is a small ISBE-recognized private, nonprofit school located in the Hyde Park
neighborhood. The school is tailored to children with diverse learning styles
and developmental needs, including those on the autism spectrum, those with
attentional issues, and those with sensory integration challenges. City
Elementary offers small, multi-age classes with a low student: teacher ratio,
onsite speech and occupational therapies, a sensory gym, and a dedicated team
of teachers with a deep understanding of diverse learning styles.
We
are seeking substitute teachers and substitute teacher assistants for
occasional work in our classrooms. For substitute teachers, ideal candidates
will have prior teaching experience (preferably special education) and an
understanding of autism spectrum disorders. For substitute teacher assistants,
ideal candidates will have experience working with children on the autism
spectrum or other special needs.
