Madonna Mission is a non-profit, faith-based organization that supports international refugee families who have been resettled in the Chicago area. The goal of Madonna Mission is to welcome these families to their new community, provide enriching educational programs, and create a safe haven for support. We serve refugees regardless of race, religion, or nationality and place a high priority on promoting human dignity.

After School Program Description
Refugee children in grades K-8 receive homework help and literacy development at Madonna Mission 4 days per week (Monday – Thursday) from 3-6pm. This program has successfully provided tutoring and support for the past six years. Our center is located in Rogers Park, where we are walking distance from the majority of resettled families and schools in the area. Volunteers from nearby neighborhoods, as well as our partnering universities and high schools, provide academic support and mentoring to our students.

Role Description
Madonna Mission is hiring an after-school Program Director for the 2019/2020 school year. The position requires on-site K-8 instructional support and supervision of volunteer staff Monday through Thursday from 3pm to 6pm, as well as additional dedicated hours for curriculum resource collecting, lesson planning, teacher and volunteer communications, and community building.

In this position you will develop and manage the after school program curriculum for approximately 100 students, partner with teachers to determine students' academic needs, manage a volunteer staff of 150 tutors from local universities and high schools, oversee operations, and build relationships with the community.

·      Curriculum management – Develop and maintain previously selected reading program, administer placement testing and end-of-year evaluations, monitor and report on metrics, develop and maintain appropriate alternate curriculum for students.
·      Partnerships – Manage successful partnerships necessary to student advancement with, including but not limited to, parents and classroom teachers.
·      Volunteer tutor management – Continue established partnerships with high schools and universities that provide tutors. Train and assess tutors in collaboration with service organizations and board volunteers. Ensure appropriate staffing levels to match CPS calendar.
·      Operations/Administration – Prep classroom/environment daily, obtain and maintain necessary tutor and student records, maintain effective bus service, maintain compliant snack program, report at quarterly board meetings.
·      Engagement – Maintain a culture of community and celebration of our mission within the program.
·     Other duties as assigned

Experience:
At least 2 years teaching experience.

Education:
·         A bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
·         Preferred but not required: Professional Educator License & ESL Endorsement
