At this year’s IL School
Counselor Association (ISCA) Conference this past Friday, we were thrilled to
learn that the winners of the IL Elementary School Counselor of the Year, Katie
Styzek, AND the High School Counselor of the Year, Brian Coleman, (both in
CPS) are DePaul School Counseling graduates! Even more exciting (if that’s
possible ;), Brian Coleman was named the IL School Counselor of the Year (from
all school levels throughout the state) and will be representing Illinois in
Washington DC this year for the American School Counselor Association's (ASCA)
annual National School Counselor of the Year ceremony, where he will meet
Michelle Obama and have the opportunity to compete for the ASCA National School
Counselor of the Year. Attached are pictures of both Brian and Katie, and of
our esteemed alumna, Kirsten Perry, (this year’s ASCA School Counselor of the
Year) who awarded Brian this honor.
