SEASONAL & YEAR-ROUND STAFF NEEDED FOR 2019

Camp Courageous is a year-round recreational and respite
care facility for individuals with disabilities. Campers with
intellectual and physical disabilities, brain injuries, hearing or
visual impairments, autism and other special needs are served.
Working with children and adults with special needs is often a very real challenge.
Campers may need help with personal care including feeding, dressing, and bathroom
needs. Some campers exhibit behavioral challenges. Patience, energy, good judgment
and enthusiasm are important qualifications for a position at Camp Courageous. The
hours are long. An unselfish attitude and an emphasis on teamwork are needed. Staff
are expected to put the campers’ needs before their own. If you possess the necessary

Volunteer positions, internships, and paid positions are available. Volunteers and
Interns can receive an optional stipend of $50.00/week plus room and board.
Paid counselors and activity specialists receive the best employment package around.
Seasonal staff earn $475/week while year-round staff earn $625-675/week. Room
and board are provided which include air-conditioned staff dormitories affording the
staff separate living quarters from the campers. Staff share cabin duty on a rotating
basis. Other benefits include a health insurance plan and one week of paid vacation
for year-round staff. Camp provides a bonus for returning seasonal summer staff and
a monetary incentive for recruiting additional summer staff. Candidates for yearround
positions must have experience with individuals with disabilities. Seasonal
positions are for one or more season.

The ISCA Board of Directors is pleased to continue a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors. This scholarship program allows us to give back to students that we work with on a daily basis and celebrate the work of Illinois School Counselors.
In 2018, ISCA awarded two ($1,000) scholarships to two (2) high school seniors. We are excited to be able to offer the scholarship again to members' students in the Class of 2019. Students who will be completing high school in 2019 are eligible for this non-renewable $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship can be used to support the following post-secondary options: 4 year college/university, 2 year college/university, trade school or apprenticeship program.

Two scholarships will be available!!

Winners will be invited to attend one of the two ISCA Annual Conferences in April (Rosemont or Bloomington) to receive their award and to recognize their school counselor. General Summary: The Office of Advising, Transitions, and Student Success is seeking two Graduate Interns to play an integral role in the facilitation and implementation of Oakton’s New Student Orientation (NSO) and first-year experiences programs. Our NSO program serves students across two campuses, and we are hiring one Graduate Intern to mainly work from the Des Plaines campus and one Graduate Intern who will predominantly work from the Skokie campus. Reporting to the Coordinator for Advising and Student Success Initiatives on their respective campus, the Graduate Interns will work collaboratively and independently to support all aspects of the NSO program.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provide logistical support and on-site facilitation for the summer New Student Orientation programs which includes collaborating with campus partners, negotiating program details, coordinating day-to-day program logistics, and facilitating an orientation presentation.
2. Serve as the functional co-supervisor for 12-15 undergraduate Orientation Leaders which includes providing direct, ongoing, and developmental feedback throughout the summer.
3. Assist in the development of all orientation staff assignments and help monitor day-to-day orientation leader responsibilities.
4. Work alongside Coordinators and co-Graduate Intern to plan and implement a 10-day orientation leader training program, including a one-day, off-site retreat.
5. Plan and implement staff development opportunities for orientation leader team to promote leadership and team development.
6. Assist in the coordination of Welcome Week events and NSO programming held the first week of fall semester.
7. Create assessment tools and reports for New Student Orientation programs.
8. Assist staff in the Office of Advising, Transitions, and Student Success as needed.
Principal Learning/Objectives:
1. The student will have an opportunity to apply theory to practice in a student affairs office setting, specifically with the New Student Orientation program.
2. The student will have an opportunity to directly co-supervise undergraduate student leaders.
3. The student will develop practical programming skills.
4. The student will develop knowledge of community college environments and the students served by community colleges.

Work Schedule & Terms of Employment:
The internship will formally begin on April 15, 2019 and end on August 30, 2019. Graduate Interns will maintain an average work schedule of 20-29 hours per week at their respective campus. During
Orientation Leader training, and as needed during NSO sessions throughout the summer, there will be
times when Graduate Interns are asked to work at the opposite campus.
Participation in Orientation Leader Training from May 20-June 3, 2019 is a requirement. Graduate
Interns are also expected to be present at all of their respective campus’ summer orientation programs.

In total, the weekly work commitment is about 3 full days (8:30am-5pm) per week, which includes two NSO days and one administrative/office day. Every three weeks, the Graduate Intern will be required to work an evening NSO program (3- 7pm).

This position is limited to 500 hours starting with the first day of employment. Oakton is closed on
Fridays, starting May 24 through August 2, 2019.
Compensation: $20.00/hour

We are looking for a loving, energetic babysitter to watch our two girls for about 10 hours a week. For a portion of the time I would be taking our toddler to preschool (Tues/Thurs) and you would be with our 10-month-old while she naps. Then I would bring the toddler home to play/have lunch while I run errands. We would love someone who is patient, loves doing art projects, being active with the girls and going to the park/for walks. I'm hoping to have someone do the girls laundry and put it away while our toddler is at school and the baby is sleeping as well as cleaning up after they eat, etc. Ideal hours would be Tuesday and Thursday (8 am-1 pm).

2019-2020 AHC Emerging Leaders Program
The AHC Emerging Leaders program was developed to allow student and new professional leaders to participate in AHC activities, receive mentorship, and connect with professional networking opportunities.
Emerging Leaders will be selected to serve for the 2019-20 term (July, 2019 to July, 2020). Master’s level students, doctoral level students, and  new professionals will be selected as AHC emerging leaders. Recipients must be an AHC member at the time of application and fall into the master’s, doctoral, or new professional categories. Emerging Leaders choose an area of interest within the division and receive mentoring related to that area. Emerging Leaders will provide a minimum of 50 hours of service to an AHC committee, project, or task. Emerging Leaders will also have opportunities to learn the responsibilities associated with serving in elected leadership positions within our association. They will also receive FREE conference registration for the 2020 AHC conference.
Emerging Leaders will be featured in our newsletter, Infochange, and recognized at the AHC meeting at the American Counseling Association Conference.

CSI Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement

The Graduate Assistant – Center for Student Involvement will be responsible for the enhancement, advising, mentoring, and leadership development of members in the fraternity and sorority life community. This Graduate Assistant will work to ensure members are excelling in student academic and personal success, while fostering a lifeline affinity to the university. In addition, the Graduate Assistant will also be responsible for assisting in student club management, advising, and leadership development.

Job Details:
 Plan, execute, and promote Greek Life student leadership programming (Hazing Prevention, By-Stander intervention, etc.).
 Co-advise CSI’s Greek Leadership roundtable and support group.
 Advise student club leaders on event planning and management, contract negotiation, assessment of activities, and leading peer student groups.
 Co-coordinate student club registration, recognition and training process.
 Implement and coordinate student club/ leadership assessment and evaluation data.
 Assist with departmental student leadership programming and planning.
 Assist with the planning and execution of the major events such as: Student Involvement Fair, Student Club Training, SAFAC Committee Recruitment, Student Leader Awards and Recognition.

Graduate Supplemental Instruction Assistant Position

General Summary:
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a program operating out of the Center for Teaching and
Learning. SI aims to help students successfully complete historically difficult classes. Reporting
to the Assistant Director for Supplemental Instruction and the SI Coordinator the Graduate SI
Assistant oversees the day to day operations of the SI program and assists in supervising the SI
Leaders.

Graduate SI Assistant Responsibilities:
Program Management /Administrative Tasks (60%)
● Maintain all program records and data (session schedules, attendance, lesson plans,
evaluations, etc.)
● Conduct program research and assessment
● Update SI Coordinator regarding student employee performance
● Evaluate program policies and procedures; make recommendations for improvement to
the Assistant Director
● Manage SI session schedule and room reservations: maintain supplies and room
organization
● Create marketing and student engagement materials; maintain social media accounts
● Participate in department events and meetings
Supervision / Advising (40%)
● Assist in supervising 30-40 SI Leaders- students who lead guided study sessions for SI
participants in selected courses in order to achieve greater classroom engagement and
academic performance
● Conduct SI Leader session observations and performance evaluations
● Lead efforts in developing and facilitating SI Leader training
● Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring SI Leaders as needed
● Assist in holding biweekly meetings with SI Mentors

The intention of this grant is to encourage and support activists, organizers, advocates, and other support people who are aligned with these values and plan to implement them in their work.

Application Process (for each award)
Applicants will be required to provide the following materials:
  • Resume or outline of relevant experience
    • We welcome links to, or examples of, relevant work
  • Position Statement (no more than three pages, double spaced) that, at a minimum, addresses the following questions:
    • How do the applicant’s goals relate to the values that serve as the framework for this grant/scholarship? Please feel free to draw from personal/professional experiences when explaining this.
    • How will the applicant use the scholarship/grant award in a way that is consistent with the scholarship’s/grant’s values?

Applicants should keep in mind that the review committee will base their decision on how the following 4 Areas are addressed in the proposal:
Area 1) Candidate is actively involved in the work that addresses the Valuing Difference scholarship/grant
Area 2) Candidate can articulate their view of how oppression and stigma impacts their clients/community and has a frame of understanding intersectionality
Area 3) Personal experiences of overcoming stigma or how the scholarship/grant could be a resource to help them do the work / continue the work.
Area 4) Candidate presents an intentional proposal/plan for using the scholarship/grant in a manner that is consistent with values

Office of New Student and Family Engagement


2019 Graduate Student Success Coach
Position Description: In order to support the success and retention of our first-year students, the Office of New Student and Family Engagement selects 24 highly driven and caring upper-class undergraduate and graduate students to serve as Student Success Coaches. Student Success Coaches will report to the Coordinator of Retention and Student Success Initiatives. Coaches play an integral role in supporting the transition and success of first-year students. They will facilitate structured one on one meetings to guide first-year students through thought provoking conversations. Through these meetings, goals and strategies will be established in order to maximize student's personal and professional potential.
Coaches will check-in regularly to address obstacles, promote resources, provide encouragement, and offer structured accountability. Coaching sessions will take place throughout the winter and spring quarters.
Qualifications:
          Strong interpersonal skills including empathy, communication, problem solving, and leadership skills and the willingness to develop these skills further
          Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of DePaul University and the goals of the Office of  New Student  and Family Engagement
          High level of time-management skills and flexibility, and ability to motivate self and others
          Enthusiasm for DePaul and the Chicago community
          Strong desire to learn about all of the resources, services, opportunities, policies and people at the University
          Currently enrolled full-time graduate students with a minimum of one quarter at DePaul and 3.0 grade point average
          All applicants' student conduct records will be reviewed as part of the selection process. Students who have been found in violation of the Code of Student Responsibility or other DePaul policies through the Student Conduct Process may be required to provide additional information and/or may be removed from the  selection  process or from the position
Responsibilities:
1.        Meet one on one with current first-year students and facilitate guided conversations to identify needs, set goals, learn about resources, and develop/grow student success skills
2.        Maintain open communication with Coaching staff when further support is needed regarding assigned students
3.        Maintain regular contact with assigned first year students through 1:1 meetings, phone calls/texts, emails, or social media
4.       Serve as a positive representative of DePaul University and the Office of New Student and Family Engagement
5.       Attend and participate in all required staff training sessions and ongoing staff development trainings

Work Schedule and Terms of Employment:
Student Success Coaches are employed for a minimum  of five months,  beginning  on January 2nd ,  2019 and ending  on June 14 th, 2019. The work schedule includes an intensive 4-day training January 2nd-J anua ry 5th. During the winter and spring quarters, Coaches are expected to work 10-12 hours a week which will include 1:1 meetings, following up with students, and reaching out to new students. They will need to be available at  both the  Lincoln  Park and  Loop colleges, depending  on student need. Coaches will be able to create their  preferred  schedule,  with  the  guidance of  the  Coordinator  of  Retention and Student Success Initiatives, however need to  have a  mix of available times during  both  business  hours and evening hours. Coaches will be paid an hourly wage of $15 and will be responsible for entering hours weekly.
Application Process and Deadline:
To be considered for the position, all new applicants are required to submit a completed  application  on the  campus  job board by 11:59pm on Sunday, November 4th, 2018. Applicants must also submit the name of a faculty or staff member (preferably within the Division of Student Affairs) to serve as a recommendation to their application.  Interviews will take place November 5-13th, 2018. Offers for the Student Success Coach position will be made by Friday, November 16th, 2018.
