Position Summary
The Extern for Greek Life is a part-time position reporting to the professional staff of the Center for Student Involvement at the Chicago Campus. Special schedule conditions will include evening and weekend hours. The extern will work 17 hours/week; the term of employment will commence August 1, 2017 and conclude May 4, 2018.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
The extern is required to have an earned Bachelor’s degree and be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program for College Student Personnel Services, Higher Education, Counseling, or related area during the time of employment. Experience in Greek Life and planning campus programs and events is required as well as a proven competence in multicultural identity development and awareness. A qualified candidate will possess the ability to provide student-centered programs and services to a range of student constituencies. The extern must possess exceptional organizational skills, sophisticated interpersonal skills, excellent listening, written and oral communication skills, initiative and a high level of energy.

Demonstrated understanding of and effectively working with fraternities and sororities
Demonstrated facilitation or event planning experience
Demonstrated understanding of the educational environment at a diverse, private, urban institution with a high percentage of non-traditional and commuter students
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
Proficiency in the understanding of Social Media Platforms
Strong interest in Social Media Management and trends
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in Higher Education is a plus

Working Conditions
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition.

Duty and Responsibility
Serve as the campus fraternity/sorority graduate advisor to nine active campus and city-wide chapters
Ensure that all members of Greek letter organizations enjoy a safe and supportive educational experience, while holding members responsible for individual and group behavior via the university Greek Life Relationship Statement
Develop, implement, and advance the Greek Life Risk Management program which includes anti-hazing training, liability training and awareness, alcohol education, Title IX education, oversight of the intake and recruitment processes.
Maintain fraternity/sorority documents, chapter grades, rosters, insurance, and other related documents
Enhance the Greek life experience by providing academically, educationally, and culturally relevant and supportive programming
Create, implement, and manage Greek Life event registration process as well as “Meet the Greeks” event
Assist with the coordination and implementation of New Student Orientation, Student Involvement Fair, and student leadership programs
Manage CSI’s social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Create social media strategies to increase followership and spread awareness of CSI Campus Programming around programs and services offered
Delight our community with prompt, fun, clever, and helpful responses to all their questions
Attend all leadership program creation and/or implementation meetings
Assist with all programs and activities sponsored by the Center for Student Involvement
Collaborate with colleagues in Enrollment and Student Services offices to facilitate the satisfaction and retention of students
Participate in university committees to further the mission of Enrollment and Student Services
