Classroom Speakers: Volunteers will be assigned in groups of 2-3 to speak to
3rd - 8th graders (2 rotations; @40 min each group; @30 students in each class
visited). This will allow for students to receive different perspectives as to
the college experience. It will also allow you to feel comfortable as you
will be able to bounce ideas off of each other and answer questions (as well as
initiate conversations during "awkward silences").
Panel discussion - 3-4 volunteers will be asked to speak to large
groups in the auditorium (6th, 7th, 8th graders). The panel will focus on "Keys
to Success"; What characteristics led you to be a college student?
What do students need to do in grade school and HS in order to get to colllege?
What opportunities have you had that may not have been possible if you were not
in college? Please let me know if you would like to be part of the
panel discussion.
