Targeted ACTION needed now and over the weekend!

Hi all,

I'm working with a network of national organizations to find a Republican co-sponsor for the ESSCP amendment for next week's committee action. If you are from one of the following states, one of your senators is a Republican on the HELP committee and we need your help! -

WY (Sen. Enzi)

NC (Sen. Burr)

GA (Sen. Isakson)

KY (Sen. Paul)

ME (Sen. Collins)

AK (Sen. Murkowski)

IL (Sen. Kirk)

SC (Sen. Scott)

UT (Sen. Hatch)

KS (Sen. Roberts)

LA (Sen. Cassidy)

Please call or email (leaving a message over the weekend is fine):

Issue: Senator Franken is interested in introducing an amendment that would reinstate the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling program. Please become a Republican co-sponsor of this amendment.

ACTION NEEDED: We are asking you to call or e-mail your House and Senate members today with the following message:

"As a constituent of Senator ___________, I am calling/writing because I would like him/her to consider co-sponsoring Senator Franken's amendment to reinstate the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling program. This is the only federal funding directed towards creating or expanding comprehensive school counseling services."

Feel free to share a personal story or your staffing situation in your school/city/state.

Steps for Reaching Members of Congress:
You can call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 225-3121 and ask for your member's office.

When you call, make sure to give your name and identify yourself as a constituent; you may need to give your home address (city/town). If you are unable to get through via phone, please go to your member's Web site (which can be found at http://www.contactingthecongress.org/ ) and opt to send an e-mail. Be sure to let them know that you are an educator, and the elimination of this program in federal law will hurt students/schools in your state. Personal stories are the most meaningful.

Please widely circulate this message and encourage all educators in your state to call/e-mail their elected officials. This is timely matter; please act today (or before Monday)! If you have any questions or have difficulty finding your elected official please contact Amanda Fitzgerald afitzgerald@schoolcounselor.org

Thanks for your timely help!
