Join us for a discussion
moderated by Christopher Jaffe, Social Service Professional and Strategic
Development Manager, in which he and fellow colleagues will highlight unique
school-based counseling and prevention programs such as Becoming a Man (B.A.M.)
and Working on Womanhood (W.O.W.) as well as the work that counseling
professionals do within these resources. Jaffe will share how Youth Guidance’s
mission is applied and supported by various counseling professionals in the
organization. You will have an opportunity to engage in discussion and
strengthen your understanding of the culture of Youth Guidance, competencies
needed in their various professional roles, and the benefits and challenges of
working in a nonprofit setting.

Join us for this unique workshop during which we will
take a walking field trip to the offices of Multicultural Student Success
(OMSS), TRIO Programs, Career Center, University Ministry (UMIN), Student
Housing, and the College of Science and Health. There, you will meet higher
education professionals who will share highlights of their workplace culture,
unique aspects of their work, and student support efforts. You will also
participate in a panel discussion and break-out session in which you will learn
job-search strategies, how to showcase your strengths and how to apply
counseling skills to many different professional roles within higher education.
Overview
The DePaul Career
Center is proud to offer Counselor Connections, a professional development
workshop series that provides College of Education students with an opportunity
to meet professionals in education and social service settings to discuss
theme-based topics central to counseling. This series provides a forum to
network within and beyond the DePaul counseling community and also learn about
featured off-site, nonprofit organizations that are hosting the series.
