Association for the Development of the Person-Centered Approach (ADPCA)

We are excited to announce that the annual meeting of the Association for the Development of the Person-Centered Approach (ADPCA) is one month away, meeting at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) from Wednesday July 19ththrough Sunday, July 23rd.  This is a unique opportunity to connect with local, national, and international client-centered / person-centered practitioners and to experience daily person-centered small and large groups as well as attend didactic presentations and discussion groups.  Our first meeting was in 1986 at the University of Chicago’s International House with Carl Rogers in attendance.

You can find information on our association here:  www.adpca.org

and can find conference information and register here:  www.adpca2017.weebly.com

If you are new to large person-centered groups, we recommend that you attend the pre-conference workshop offered by Marge Witty on Wednesday, July 19th from 10 a.m. through 3:15 p.m.  There is no additional charge for this workshop, but registration is required.  Dr. Witty will give an overview of client-centered principles in the morning (10 a.m. – noon), and we will have an open discussion group in the afternoon (1:15-3:15).

Continuing education credits will be offered for psychologists (confirmed) and social workers (pending) and are sponsored by Chicago Counseling Associates.   A total of ten CE may be earned during the conference and four for the pre-conference workshop.

Registration fees are $300 for the full conference ($125 for students) and $100 for one day attendance.  We encourage anyone for whom the registration fee is a barrier to apply for scholarship aid.  Please note that if you wish to stay on campus during the conference, rooms must be reserved by this Thursday, 6/29.

We hope to see you in July!
